Hi, I’m Faye. I’ve spent over twenty years in financial services, from corporate banking to rollercoaster FinTechs, alternative finance to where I am now, social impact investment. I’ve supported businesses through funding rounds, growth, and exits, managed lending portfolios worth up to £300 million, and along the way picked up a distinction in the Chartered Banker’s Diploma in Lending Skills and accreditation as a leadership coach.
But this site isn’t really about any of that.
It’s about what I’ve learned navigating a career that hasn’t always gone in a straight line, including two redundancies that reshaped how I think about work, identity, and what matters. I started writing to make sense of it, and kept going because it turned out other people were navigating the same things.
I write about leadership, career development, and finding the sweet spot between professional ambition and a healthy life. I coach and mentor people who want to build financial confidence and navigate career transitions with more clarity than I had. And I co-host two groups that energise me as much as the people in them – a small peer leadership group and a writing accountability group – because leadership gets a lot less lonely with the right people around you. I’ve written about that too, of course.
I’ve got an arts background before finance ever entered the picture (BA European Studies, University of Manchester), I’m a novice guitar player, an avid reader and music lover, and I still believe the best professional insight often comes from the least “professional” parts of life.
I write for people who want to navigate their own path with more confidence and share the insights I wish I’d had when I was starting out.
I’m not writing to a regular schedule at the moment, there’s a lot still going on behind the scenes here. But everything I’ve written so far is still here to read, and more will come when it’s ready.
